Understanding Trauma and PTSD

Trauma is a response to distressing events that can significantly impact mental health. PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other disorders often develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, leading to various emotional and physical symptoms.

Managing Trauma and PTSD

Symptoms often include memories of the event that intrude into daily life through flashbacks, reoccurring nightmares, and strong memories. These memories often negatively affect mood causing depression, anxiety, or anger. These memories may lead to a sense of disconnection and mistrust of others, feeling on edge, and a strong desire to avoid reminders of the event or events.

If these symptoms sound like something you are experiencing there is good news. There are a variety of treatment methods which I can provide that can help such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) These methods have proven to be highly effective at reducing symptoms, helping the past to stay where it belongs…in the past!
